JONNY May has been tipped for a call-up to the England set-up for the Six Nations.
Stuart Lancaster faces a wing crisis with Christian Wade ruled out and Marland Yarde a doubt for the Championship.
May capped his England debut with a try during the summer tour of Argentina but was demoted to the Saxons squad at the beginning of the season.
But after blazing over for his 11th try in his last 15 Premiership encounters, Gloucerster director of rugby Nigel Davies has backed the red-hot wing for a recall.
Davies said: âHaving coached international rugby I wouldnât be afraid of selecting him. Heâs had his ups and downs but heâs becoming a consistent rugby player.
âThe key thing about international rugby players is as much as they have X factor they donât make many mistakes.
âThey are very accurate at what they do. Thatâs what Jonny is working very hard at and is getting better at every match.
âHeâs very professional in the way he approaches the game. He trains hard, conducts himself very well and his game understanding is growing by the day.â
While Mayâs try at the Madejski Stadium was a straight run-in to finish 2013 with a bang, his performances in Europe are sure to have filled Lancaster with festive cheer.
But he now faces a nervous wait to learn if Lancaster joins his growing list of fans which also includes Sir Clive Woodward and Olympic gold medallist Marlon Devonish.
