NORTH PETHERTON 21 OLD REDCLIFFIANS 35

Converted tries in extra-time from Craig Owen, Dave Harris and Max Woodward saw Old Reds lift the Somerset Cup for the first time since 2000.

Old Reds took an early lead with a try from centre Henry Goldson, but North Petherton levelled through right wing Damian Griffin.

Jed Hooper’s try put Old Reds 10-5 up at the break and Ashley Groves extended the lead with a penalty.

North Petherton fought back through the boot of Griffin and eventually levelled matters late on when Gavin Hancock crossed the whitewash.

However, Reds made the decisive move in the first period of extra-time as Owen and Harris both scored tries that were converted by fly-half Groves.

North Petherton refused to lie down and hit back in the second half of extra-time with a Sam Butler try, but Woodward soon settled matters in Old Reds favour with the final try of the game.
