Barbados train at Crawley Rugby Club

The Barbadian rugby sevens team visited Crawley Rugby Club for a training session on their way to the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

Barbados head coach, Joe Whipple contacted Crawley to ask if they were able to host a short session and provide facilities for a TV shoot for Sky’s Total Rugby.

A spokesman for Crawley RFC said: “We believe rugby is a community and we were only too happy to help out, we wish the Barbadian team all the best for the games.”

Around 20 Crawley members came along to watch the open session, probably hoping to pick up some tips on their own game.

Barbados start their games on Saturday, July 26 in a pool against the hosts Scotland as well as Canada and the favourites New Zealand. Total Rugby is broadcast on Wednesday, July 23 at 5.30 pm and repeated throughout the week.

If you’re interested in playing rugby, and you’re between 4 and 50 please go to the Crawley RFC website www.crawleyrfc.co.uk for more details.
