It is the first time in its 18 years that the yearbook has featured a club chairman, but contributing editor Tim Butcher makes no apology for making an exception for the ambitious owner of Salford Red Devils.
Koukash was never far from the headlines after rescuing Salford from financial collapse, making a host of major announcements designed to make the club great again.
One of Koukash’s high-profile signings, England international Gareth Hock, is also picked out as a personality of the year, along with Wigan’s double-winning coach Shaun Wane, Man of Steel Danny Brough and Sheffield’s record tryscorer Menzie Yere.
The yearbook is dedicated to journalist Raymond Fletcher, who passed away this year but for 19 years served the game by compiling the Rothman’s Yearbook.
It contains the full story of the domestic year, the Australian NRL season and match facts for all Super League, Challenge Cup games involving professional teams, Championship and Championship One and Northern Rail Cup games but was compiled too early to include the World Cup.
“The 18th season of Super League was another roller coaster,” said Butcher. “It was another news-laden year and I’m sure every rugby league supporter will enjoy re-living it.”
