ENGLAND rugby legend Lawrence Dallaglio will be coaching local students this week â and sampling the famous Cleethorpes fish and chips.
The former international rugby star was a key part of the England Grand Slam winning side of 2003 and played every minute in the famous World Cup campaign which saw them lift the trophy.
â
Lawrence Dallaglio: The former England rugby player is visiting schools in Grimsby and Humberston today and tomorrow â and sampling the famous Cleethorpes fish and chips.
That is why the David Ross Education Trust (DRET) thought he was the perfect person to inspire young people at their local academies, Havelock, Humberston and Edward Heneage Primary.
The 6ft 4in flanker will be arriving at Grimsby Town train station shortly after 11am today and will head to Havelock Academy to talk to the students about his incredible career and achievements.

Then he will head to the place he knows best â the rugby pitch â where Humberston Academy students will join him for some seven-aside practice matches and a coaching masterclass.
But it’s not all work. Dallaglio will pay a visit to another icon tonight â Steel’s Cornerhouse Restaurant.
Co-owner Ian Stead said: “He’s a sports icon known by people all around the world so I can’t wait to meet him here in our own restaurant.
“Every employee I have has volunteered for that shift so I’ll be fully staffed â even my old lady and she hasn’t worked here in 15 years.”
Havelock Academy subject leader in PE, Craig Suddaby, said: “Rugby has really taken off over the last five years here â we started training with two or three and now we have a full squad playing regular matches.
“Something like this could increase participation further and, in turn, increase the quality of rugby over time.”
Tomorrow, Dallaglio is heading to Humberston Academy to hold an assembly and three more hours of coaching sessions.
Then he will visit Edward Heneage Primary Academy that afternoon.
DRET sports enrichment officer Shane Ward said: “Somebody of his fame can only help to inspire students, which is a key part of what we are trying to do in academies across the trust.
“We hope that events like this one will encourage more young people to get involved in sport because not only does it improve fitness, it develops important skills like teamwork, communication and love of the outdoors.”
Humberston Academy sports enrichment officer Kirsty Hill said: “This is a great chance for the rugby team to get some tips and coaching from someone so widely respected.
“But going out to dine with him too is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity â even my colleagues are begging me for a space on the table.”
