Northampton Saints centre Luther Burrell has shrugged off any talk of an England call-up despite his storming start to the season.

Burrell could be thrown into the international mix with both Brad Barritt and Manu Tuilagi set to miss the autumn Test series through injury. Barrell was part of the England squad for their tour of Argentina but failed to win a Test cap.

However, Burrell is trying to keep any thought of England at bay as he focuses on his club form for Northampton. Burrell told the Northampton Chronicle Echo: “To be completely honest, I don’t really look at it (England) at all.

“This is where it counts for me. It’s my club rugby. I want to be playing consistently for this club. If I get anything after that, it’s fantastic. But for me it’s all about playing well for Northampton Saints at the moment.”
