Wood, who was sent off in the second minute by referee Wayne Barnes, cannot play again until November 13, the Rugby Football Union announced.
The 30-year-old appeared before a three-man RFU disciplinary panel in Bristol on Wednesday night.
Wood was dismissed after he stamped on Namibia international Burger’s head at Allianz Park. Saracens went on to win the game 44-12.
Wood, who is a member of the current England Saxons squad, apologised to Burger after the incident.
However, Gloucester – currently bottom of the Premiership with just one point from two games – will be without the loosehead prop’s services for five league matches and two Heineken Cup fixtures.
Wood will be unavailable for Premiership appointments with Northampton, Newcastle, Exeter, Bath and Wasps, plus opening Heineken pool stage appointments with Perpignan and Munster.
His case was heard by a panel comprising chairman Christopher Quinlan QC, Mike Curling and John Doubleday.
Burger said earlier this week that he harboured “no hard feelings” towards Wood following the incident.
