RUGBY LEAGUE: Coach Hepi is stepping down

RUGBY LEAGUE: Coach Hepi is stepping down

University of Gloucestershire All Golds rugby league coach Brad Hepi

BRAD HEPI will step down as head coach to Kingstone Press Championship One side University of Gloucestershire All Golds at the end of the current season.

The 46-year-old former New Zealand Maori international believes he has taken the team as far as he can.

Hepi helped launch the All Golds into Championship One and coached the University of Gloucestershire rugby league team to win the BUCS Universities Championship for the first time in the team’s history last year.

He is expected to remain a part of the coaching structure at the All Golds who have already begun the search for a replacement.

As a player, Hepi won 13 caps for the New Zealand Maoris and spent four years playing Super League rugby for Hull, Castleford and Salford City Reds between 1998 and 2001 as well as playing for for Carlisle RLFC when he moved to England.

The All Golds started with two wins from their first three league fixtures this season, but haven’t won since the end of March when they beat Gateshead Thunder.
