BRITISH Swimming’s elite coach development manager, Nigel Redman, will be the guest speaker at this year’s Derbyshire Sport Coaches’ Conference.

Organised by Derbyshire Sport and supported by Derby College, the conference will be held on Sunday, May 18 – but time is now running short to book a place.

Former Bath and England rugby union international Redman, will give the opening keynote speech at the event.

Redman gained 20 international caps for England and represented the British and Irish Lions in 1997 before moving into coaching.

A range of 12 different workshops will also be on offer, giving coaches the opportunity to learn from world class experts in their fields covering subjects such as nutrition, strength and conditioning, and psychology, as well as effectively coaching teenage athletes and examining the relationship of sleep and athletic performance. The conference programme also includes sports specific master classes on swimming and netball.

The cost for Derbyshire coaches is £50, which includes a full-day of workshops, lunch and refreshments.

The cost for coaches from outside of the county is £60 Booking closes on May 6.
