Ireland prop Cian Healy has never been a shy one and this morning he has released a hilarious video in order to win tickets for Electric Picnic for our heroic womenââ¬â¢s rugby team. Having made the semi-finals of the recent Womenââ¬â¢s Rugby World Cup and toppling New Zealand in the process, Cian felt the girls deserved a treat. Electric Ireland has been asking their Twitter followers to post videos of themselves mining power ballads to win tickets for the popular music festival. .@clionalynch Weââ¬â¢ll give 4 @EPfestival tickets to the IRFU womenââ¬â¢s team if @properchurch enters a #PowerBallads video! #coygig â Electric Ireland (@ElectricIreland) August 19, 2014 In an effort to get the team tickets Cian and his friend Sam Oââ¬â¢Byrne decided to go into the planning phase to perform Bonnie Tylerââ¬â¢s smash 80s hit Total Eclipse of the Heart. @ElectricIreland if it gets the @IrishRugby girls to EP I’ll take the hit! â Cian Healy (@ProperChurch) August 19, 2014 .@ProperChurch We’ve a #PowerBallads pack on the way to you to help you practice Cian! pic.twitter.com/j84koza7Cz â Electric Ireland (@ElectricIreland) August 19, 2014 @ProperChurch @DmanorB @ElectricIreland @IrishRugby you are an legend. Cian the #powerballads prop – it’s got a good ring to it. â Electric Ireland (@ElectricIreland) August 21, 2014 With that phase complete Cian and Sam headed to the candle lit piano (how power ballad of them) to perform their piece and the results were spectacular! We have to say the wig is quite a fashionable look for the rugby star and maybe slightly better than his Movember look (only slightly). Speaking to breakingnews.ie Sam told us the painstaking effort that went into making the clip. ââ¬ÅAfter Electric Ireland challenged Cian he wasnââ¬â¢t backing down. Obviously the girls had done so well he wanted to give something back. ââ¬ÅCianââ¬â¢s sister Adrienne did the make-up and styling, while her boyfriend went into Spielberg mode to film it,ââ¬ï¿½ said Sam. ââ¬ÅIt only took three takes because we had to get the lighting and sound right, it was really good craic to do.ââ¬ï¿½ So there was a couple of things we had to know, firstly where did Cian get that retro robe and where did they get the smoke machine? Sam was kind enough to clear up both mysteries! ââ¬ÅWhen I knew we were going to do the video I went up to the attic in my parentsââ¬â¢ house and found a few things for it, including the robe.ââ¬ï¿½ ââ¬ÅWe didnââ¬â¢t have a smoke machine though, itââ¬â¢s actually a kettle! ââ¬ÅElectric Ireland actually gave out to us on Twitter this morning for wasting electricity,ââ¬ï¿½ added Oââ¬â¢Byrne. He also confirmed to us that because their effort was so good despite the original offer being for four tickets, Electric Ireland is now going to send the whole team to Electric Picnic! Good Lord myself and @samobyrne have made a sensational music video!!!! â Cian Healy (@ProperChurch) August 21, 2014 After the guys were done they then released a trailer on Instagram that made the public clamour for the full version. The duo obliged and posted the amazing full version on YouTube this morning. Myself and @samobyrne have decided to release the 2minute version of Total Eclipse tomorrow morning… Just to kick Friday off well !! â Cian Healy (@ProperChurch) August 21, 2014 So after all that build up here it is in all its glory! Is there anything the man canââ¬â¢t doââ¬Â¦ Thanks to Cian and Sam our girls in green are now delighted to be going to Electric Picnic. Congrats @irishrugby womenââ¬â¢s team @CoghlanFiona weââ¬â¢ll get the tickets out to you and we look forward to seeing you at @epfestival! â Electric Ireland (@ElectricIreland) August 22, 2014 @ProperChurch @samobyrne absolute stars. I think I see a future for this duo #powerballads â Fiona Coghlan (@CoghlanFiona) August 21, 2014 @ProperChurch @samobyrne this is brilliant!!! oh my god u are wasted in rugby ðŸËâðŸËâðŸËâðŸËâ thanks so much #legends #class â Niamh Briggs (@niamhbriggs15) August 21, 2014 @ElectricIreland @IrishRugby @CoghlanFiona @EPfestival This has made my day!!!!
