Finley’s adventures continue with rugby league and fire stations

CENTURIONS, firefighters and celebrities are all helping to raise the profile of superhero Finley McDonald.
In just over three weeks, Finley and his family have raised more than twice their original target of £1,000 and they are showing no signs of stopping.
Finley was born with half a heart and his mum Nicola Shaw and dad Gary Jones started raising money as part of a list of things that the four-year-old would like to do before his fifth heart operation in October.
“He has the full backing of the fabulous Leigh Centurions who all wore charity t-shirts with Finley’s superhero logo printed on them as they warmed up for their Challenge Cup quarter final against Leeds,†Nicola said.
“Finley’s dad has just done an Abseil for Little Hearts Matter’s 20th anniversary so it looks like Finley is probably going to reach £5,000 mark.â€
On top of this, Finley has met Peter Andre, he was given a tour of Atherton fire station on Saturday where he got to spray the fire hose before the fire engine picked him to take him to be a mascot for the Centurions clash with Barrow on Sunday.
“He absolutely loved his day on Saturday meeting green watch at Atherton fire station,†Nicola, of Hansom Drive, Atherton, said.
“I think Finley won a lot of hearts from an amazing rugby community, no words could ever thank each and everyone at Leigh for everything they have done for our little brave heart.â€
Snapshot Art have designed 35 limited edition signed Leigh Centurion prints with Finley’s superhero logo on them to sell at £25 each with all proceeds going to Finley’s charities, Little Hearts Matter and the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
Finley has a condition called hypo plastic left heart syndrome and had his first operation aged just 10-weeks-old.
