Doncaster Knights and Doncaster Phoenix have moved to strengthen their links by announcing a new coaching partnership.
The two Castle Park clubs recently joined forces to publish a ârugby for allâ mantra.
The plan has been drawn up to create a direct pathway for player development at Doncaster, from grass roots level in the mini-juniors through to the professional game with the Knights.
Several Doncaster youngsters have chosen to play adult rugby further afield upon their graduation from the junior section in the past.
But club officials hope the elevation of Ryan Peacey and Anthony Posa to positions in which they will be jointly responsible for the coaching and management of Phoenix will strengthen ties between all the rugby sections that come under the Castle Park umbrella – and help to develop a production line of players.
Anthony De Mulder, president of Doncaster RUFC, said: ââRyan Peacey and Anthony Posa will form a great coaching partnership for Doncaster Phoenix to spearhead the attack on Yorkshire One next season.
âAnthony is the vital link between Doncaster Rugby Football Club juniors and Doncaster Phoenix.
âUtilising his other role, coaching Doncaster RFC under 19s, he is in a wonderful position to guide young players towards adult rugbyâ.
Phoenix president David Townend added: âWe are pleased to see the start of a new era for Doncaster Phoenix which will hopefully enable us build on the clubââs successes over the last few seasonsâ.â
Player coach Peacey is set to be joined in the Phoenix squad next season by fellow former Knights Adam Kettle and Chris Planchant.
