McNamara, whose contract as England head coach expired at the end of the recent World Cup, had also been linked with a code switch to rugby union.
Move Bath are believed to have offered him a job as attack coach, having appointed another ex-rugby league international, Mike Ford, as head coach in the summer.
But McNamara has now opted to move Down Under and work in the highly competitive NRL for the first time.
Aussie side Parramatta Eels were also rumoured to be keen.
