Mike Phillips could make his Racing Metro debut in Saturdayâs Heineken Cup encounter with Harlequins.
The Wales scrum-half is eligible to play for his new club after they added him as an additional player to their squad.
Phillips, who didnât play in Europe this season with previous club Bayonne, is likely to feature in Saturdayâs match, which is being played at Stade de la Beaujoire in Nantes.
Phillips was dismissed by Racingâs Top 14 rival Bayonne in October for allegedly being drunk when he turned up for a video analysis session.
He vehemently denied the accusations and has since launched legal proceedings against the Basque club.
Racing have also added former Northampton tighthead Brian Mujati as an additional player.
The Top 14 club sit second in Pool 4, having beaten Clermont Auvergne and drawn with the Scarlets in their opening two fixtures.
Dean Richardsâ first game against former club Harlequins since the 2009 âBloodgateâ affair that cost him his job ended in defeat as his Newcastle side were outclassed at Kingston Park last weekend.
Tom Williams, the player at the centre of the scandal, returned to haunt Richards, finishing a fine Quins move.
Phil Godman narrowed the half-time gap to 13-6 but Quins winger Sam Smith crossed seconds after the restart.
Danny Careâs finish and Smithâs long-range second earned a bonus point.
The result moved Quins into the top four.
