Legendary Scottish rugby union commentator Bill McLaren will long be remembered for his outstanding contribution to the sport through his many years behind the microphone.
Available in 500 ml bottles, the 4.5% ABV Strong Pale Ale carries one of Billâs famous lines, âcunning as a bag o’ weaselsâ on the label and is described as âclassic style with a cunning balance of malt and hop characters and a local twistâ.Â
Caledonianâs National Account Manager Steve Ricketts says the historic Edinburgh Brewery is proud to have been chosen to brew the special commemorative beer. âBillâs beer is a nod to an iconic, inspirational figure. Weâre proud to be associated with such a rugby legend and to support the great work of the Bill McLaren Foundation. Â A percentage from every bottle sold will go directly to support its activities.â
Billâs Son-In-Law Alan Lawson commented âItâs a lovely beer and I like the idea of people who enjoyed Billâs commentary enjoying a bottle of Billâs whilst watching the rugby.â He continued, âIâve been to the Caley on a number of occasions and the passion, history and tradition is a terrific fit with the values of both the sport of rugby and the Bill McLaren Foundation.âÂ
Billâs beer bottles are available from Vino Wines who have three stores in Edinburgh and the Caledonian Beer online shop www.caledonianbeer.com/shop. More stockists are expected to be announced shortly.
