England 2015 also announced its pricing structure on Wednesday, confirming
prices ranging between £7 and £715.
Children can also watch England’s pool matches for as little as £15, with the
minimum adult price £50 for the game at the Etihad and £75 for those at
Twickenham.
However, there are no concession prices for any knock-out stage matches apart
from the third-place play-off, with £95 the minimum cost of attending a
quarter-final.
The first wave of tickets, numbering in the region of 500,000, will be
distributed through cubs affiliated to the Rugby Football Union next May and
will include access to the final.
The general sale launch begins in September and there will be a ballot system
in place for oversubscribed matches. Unsold tickets will be made available
through Ticketmaster from December.
England 2015 chief executive Debbie Jevans denied England’s kick-off times had
been dictated by host broadcaster ITV.
She said: “Not at all. It’s always a balance when you’re doing a
schedule, for whatever sport that is, and you have to clearly take into
account – rightly – the needs of the broadcasters but also the fans, to get
them to the match and get them away from the match.
“Therefore, we’ve already formed a working party that comprises all of
the different aspects of transport.
“We wouldn’t put an eight-o’clock kick-off in if we hadn’t had that
dialogue and weren’t confident that we could make this a fantastic spectator
experience.”
She also defended the lack of family-friendly prices for knockout-stage
matches.
“When you get to the back end, that’s when we anticipate there won’t be
as many families and that’s where your core rugby fan – if you will – will
be watching those matches.”
