Scotland had already secured the services of NRL-based stars Peter Wallace and James McManus, and have now confirmed that North Queensland Cowboys centre Linnett will represent them at the upcoming showpiece.

Coach Steve McCormack also has Danny Brough and Michael Robertson available to him and has revealed that there may well be more, following the inclusion of Linnett, who qualifies via his Scottish mother.

“It’s great to have Kane available, along with Peter and James,” said McCormack.

“We’ll confirm another NRL recruit later this week and I expect maybe one more, two at the most.

“The vast majority of our squad will be familiar players who’ve played for Scotland before, but we’re delighted to have recruited these top-class talents to the cause.”

Linnett is delighted to be given the opportunity and said: “World Cups don’t come around very often.

“I’m really looking forward to experiencing the tournament in England and meeting a new bunch of boys and performing well.”
