It is a scary prospect, particularly for those who watched Leicester fly-half Toby Flood feel the full force of Lawes’ attempt to impersonate a scud missile last Saturday.
And Gustard wants the whole squad to take their cue from Mr Hyde rather than Dr Jekyll in defence.
“You have the good doctor who has good morals and is a kind man,†said Gustard.
“And when it comes to night time he turns into this villainous, mad creature. Defence is quite similar. During the match the players need to make rational decisions, be disciplined and composed. When it comes to tackling, I need them to be physical, I need the monster to come out of them.
