Far from it. Gustard has asked the Northampton flanker, along with the rest of the England team that will play a South American XV on Sunday, to find their inner âmonsterâ.
It is a scary prospect, particularly for those who watched Leicester fly-half Toby Flood feel the full force of Lawesâ attempt to impersonate a scud missile last Saturday.
And Gustard wants the whole squad to take their cue from Mr Hyde rather than Dr Jekyll in defence.
âYou have the good doctor who has good morals and is a kind man,â said Gustard.
âAnd when it comes to night time he turns into this villainous, mad creature. Defence is quite similar. During the match the players need to make rational decisions, be disciplined and composed. When it comes to tackling, I need them to be physical, I need the monster to come out of them.
"Show us the monster Courtney Lawes" says England coach
