Leader: Quins Jack Clifford (second right) skippered England to world championship glory

Led by Harlequins Jack Clifford, England have been crowned IRB Junior World Championship winners.

Despite being 15-3 behind at the break, Clifford’s men came back to beat the old foe Wales 23-15 in France to lift the trophy on Sunday.

Clifford, who starred with team-mate Harry Sloan, said: “I’m so proud of all of the guys.

“Massive credit to Wales – they were excellent in the first half and we struggled to be honest, but we came out after the break and starting to build some momentum.

“To get the win is a dream come true – the highlight of my career.”

England were in dominant form throughout the tournament beating France (30-6), USA (109-0), New Zealand (33-21) and Wales.
