This game was a classic encounter for a number of reasons, it was close, and it was exciting but most of all it signalled NSWâs first ever series win.
The Blues led 6-0 after 10 minutes when Chris Mortimer leapt high to score off a bomb from brother, Steve. This lead was extended when Benny Elias darted out from dummy half and beat three Queensland defenders and touched down under the posts.
Queensland came storming back, scoring late in the first half through Bobby Linder and hit the lead 14-12 midway through the second half with a try to Brett French. The Blues levelled the scores not long after with a penalty goal to Michael OâConnor and then took a 15-14 advantage when OâConnor kicked a field goal with 10 minutes remaining.
Blues five eighth Brett Kenny sealed the dramatic win for the blues when he burrowed his way over from close range.
