Andrew Stanley is to leave Gloucester to take up a rugby role with one of the top private schools in Cheltenham.
Stanley, who took over as Gloucester’s forwards coach last summer following Carl Hogg’s departure to Worcester Warriors, will assume his new full-time position as director of rugby at Dean Close School at the start of September.
The announcement of Stanley’s Kingsholm departure follows the confirmation of Australian Laurie Fisher as Gloucester’s new head coach earlier this week.
Fisher, currently director of rugby at ACT Brumbies, was a specialist forwards coach with Brumbies and Munster before taking up his current position with the Canberra-based club.
Gloucester have confirmed that Trevor Woodman will continue in the part-time scrum coach role that he took on towards the end of last season.
Stanley has had a long association with Gloucester starting as a player before moving into coaching.
The back row forward made almost 200 appearances for the Cherry and Whites before retiring from senior rugby in 1998.
Woodman says that he’s looking forward to building on the work he started in March while also being able to continue in his role as sports ambassador at Cheltenham College.
“I’m really pleased to be staying with Gloucester,” said the former Gloucester prop.
“A lot has happened at the club over the past few weeks, but we’ve added some quality individuals to the coaching team.”
