On Wednesday (June 25), he coached about 60-70 Year 7 and 8 students from both Longsands and Ernulf academies.
The event, held at Longsands Academy, ran throughout the morning with three sessions where pupils had the chance to hone their rugby skills. There was also the opportunity for them to ask Ben questions about everything â from his sporting career to his stint on Strictly Come Dancing.
Cathy Chilman, assistant principal at Longsands, secured the appearance after bidding at a charity fundraising event.
She said: âInitially their jaws hit the floor and they lost the power of speech. It was fantastic â the students had a wonderful time. He was great with them and it was lovely to see the students from Longsands and Ernulf working together. I think he is our most famous visitor to date â we have got to try to top that now.â
