Prop forward Alex Waller is one of eight Northampton Saints players who will join England’s rugby tour to New Zealand.
The 24 year old, a product of the Saints academy, is in line for his first taste of senior England international rugby, having represented England Saxons in the past.
Waller was credited with the try which secured victory in the Aviva Premiership Final at Twickenham on Saturday (May 31).
Saints fly-half Stephen Myler – Man of the Match at Twickenham – also makes the trip Down Under. The others are forwards Dylan Hartley, Courtney Lawes and Tom Wood, plus backs Ben Foden, Luther Burrell and Lee Dickson.
In all 16 players have been added to England’s tour party, drawn from the Saints, Saracens and the England XV who faced Barbarians yesterday (June 1).
England Head Coach Stuart Lancaster said: âWe are looking forward to the guys flying in and adding to the group. We watched the Aviva Premiership final and the England XV game against the Barbarians and are pleased with how the players performed and came through.
“There are no major injuries which would prevent anyone flying and, with four big games to come, we are confident there will be opportunities for everyone on the tour.
“It is great to be able to work with a wider group and we feel that the younger players will really benefit from the experience of coming to New Zealand, understanding the culture and challenging themselves in this the most competitive of environments.”
