Having been caught still in the changing rooms when France opened the scoring after just 35 seconds, and gone behind further when Yoan Huget added his second of the half, Stuart Lancaster’s side rallied to battle back into the lead thanks to Burrell’s score and another from Mike Brown – his first on the international scene,

But France – and the ferociously expectant Stade de France crowd – had other ideas, and England hearts were shattered when young Toulouse centre Gael Fickou finished a mesmerising try three minutes from time to give Les Blues a much-needed victory.
