Sean Morris in action for Oxford RL last season
SEAN Morris could now help Oxford Rugby League build on their debut season after missing out on a London Broncos contract.
The triple Oxford rugby union Blue was on trial with First Utility Super League side Broncos less than a year after switching codes.
But despite impressing and scoring a try against Leeds Rhinos at Headingley, Morris, who can play at wing or centre, did not land a deal.
âThere was no contract unfortunately, but I did get good feedback from Tony Rea (Broncosâ head coach),â said Morris.
âIt was matter of them needing a player with more top-level experience rather than me not being a good enough rugby player.
âI suppose it is the both the best and worst kind of rejection!â
Broncosâ squad does, however, include George Griffin, younger brother of fellow professionals Darrell and Josh, who all hail from Witney.
Morris is now considering a second season with Oxford, who have been boosted by the signing of London Broncos academy winger Chima Oduma (below).
The 19-year-old, who can also play at centre, joins as Oxford prepare for the new Kingstone Press Championship One season.
Oduma has also played for South London Storm and London and Southeast Colleges.
He said: âI am very excited to have been given the opportunity to play for Oxford Rugby League.
âThe season will be a physical test and it is one I look forward to.
âI also look forward to developing as a player here under the experience of Tony Benson and his coaching staff.â
Benson added: âChima is a really athletic lad.
âHeâs very quick with some experience behind him and Iâm looking forward to seeing how he comes on this year with us.â
Oxford open their Kingstone Press Championship One campaign with a home game against London Skolars at Iffley Road on Sunday, March 2.
The following Sunday, they will be away to Gateshead Thunder.
