The Warriors’ star man was forced to miss last week’s hard-fought win over Hull KR with a virus.
It was only the third time Wigan had won in 11 games without the much-coveted 24-year-old spread over the past two seasons.
Coach Shaun Wane hopes to be close to full strength for the eagerly-anticipated Giants contest with captain Sean O’Loughlin and prop Ben Flower expected to overcome knocks.
Wane said: “Sam is good. He had a bit of food poisoning, a 24-hour bug. It was just bad timing.
“We have got a few little knocks and bruises that we’ll need to check on.
“It’ll be late on that I select my team – which is quite common.
“It is just that stage of the season – 20-odd rounds when you get week-in, week-out knocks.”
Huddersfield have a one-point lead over Wigan and Warrington at the top in a tight battle for the League Leaders’ Shield.
