Bedford Blues have completed their first pre-season training sessions in the sweltering heat.
Mike Rayerâs men returned for duty last Saturday as they prepare for another season in the Championship after last termâs superb run to the final.
Strength and conditioning coach Paddy Hogben laid on a host of fitness tests for the team to complete at Bedford Athletics Stadium, and there was no respite after that thanks to three games of touch.
Monday saw the Blues back at the stadium for further technical and fitness training before Hogben inflicted further pain with a strength and conditioning master class at Rushmoor Schoolâs field on Tuesday.
The squad, which includes academy prospects and trialists, then completed their final session on Thursday.
âIâm really pleased with the condition that the lads have come back in,â said Hogben.
âWeâve got plenty of work to do before the season gets under way in two months time, but the guys have obviously kept themselves [in shape] since the final and will be raring to go when the Championship kicks off again.â
Blues host Premiership side Northampton Saints in their first pre-season friendly, at Goldington Road on August 16.
