Ulster Rugby fans have vented their fury after tickets for the Heineken Cup quarter final clash were offered for sale at up to £400.
An extra 1,500 tickets for the April 5 match against Saracens at Ravenhill were put on sale yesterday morning and sold out in just a minute.
But within hours tickets appeared on the website Gumtree for up to £400.
Ulster Rugby charges from £19, up to a maximum of £95 for a premium plus ticket.
One Gumtree seller is offering two seated tickets for £400, while another is offering two seated tickets for £300.
Another seller is offering one ticket in the family stand for £150.
They boast that the seat has a good view and say the ticket must be collected in central Belfast.
When contacted by the Belfast Telegraph, one seller said the tickets had not been sold yet but that he expected to have them sold within an hour for £300.
Before yesterday no tickets had been made available on general release – even though Ravenhill will have an increased capacity of 17,000.
Now the exorbitant prices being put on tickets has compounded fans’ misery.
A breakdown on the Ulster Rugby website said that 8,850 had already gone to Ulster season ticket holders and Ulster supporters’ groups.
A further 1,000 were sold to new season ticket holders for 2014-15, and Saracens were given their full allocation of a quarter of all seats.
A further 3,000 tickets will go to the competition organisers and contracted sponsors – a figure branded outrageous by many fans on social networking websites. An extra 1,500 returned by Saracens were released yesterday morning and sold within one minute.
Ulster Rugby fans have been venting their fury on Twitter over the hiked-up prices for the tickets on Gumtree.
Johnny McCauley wrote: “What a joke, this is what actual supporters are so sickened at.”
Ian Frizzell tweeted: “This disgusts me when genuine supporters are still without.”
Other fans urged Ulster Rugby to void the tickets that were being sold at the hiked-up rates.
A spokesman last night said that Ulster Rugby did not wish to comment.
