Glendalough recruits former Irish rugby captain - just

Glendalough will release its inaugural Irish whiskey later this year

Glendalough Irish Whiskey has announced a raft of activity that includes the addition of former Ireland rugby international Brian O’Driscoll to its ownership.

The craft distiller, which is a founder member of the Irish Whiskey Association, sees O’Driscoll come on board as part-owner at the same time as it ups its workforce to include two brand managers, based in New York. Glendalough is also releasing its first Irish whiskey expression, a seven-year-old single malt.

Finally, the company is looking to launch a seasonal gin next month. An autumn gin will also be released later this year.

Barry Gallagher, MD of Glendalough, said: We are delighted to be launching both our single malt whiskey and Ireland’s first seasonal gin. We have built our distillery in Wicklow, successfully launched in the US and Australia and we’re delighted to have Brian O’Driscoll on board as an investor in our company.”

Glendalough is named after a village in Co Wicklow, to the south of Dublin.
