TORONTO – Forwards Alasdair Strokosch and Kelly Brown will skip the rest of Scotland’s four-match tour after suffering injuries in a 19-17 rugby Test victory over Canada at BMO Field on Saturday.
Strokosch was taken off the pitch on a stretcher with a suspected neck injury. He was taken to hospital as a precaution and rejoined the team at its hotel later in the day, according to Scottish Rugby, the governing body for rugby union in Scotland.
“He will require a short period of recovery for soft-tissue injuries,” team doctor James Robson said Sunday in a statement.
The game was halted for about 10 minutes midway through the first half while medical staff attended to the 31-year-old Strokosch, a six-foot-three, 240-pound back-row forward who plays for Perpignan in France.
Brown suffered an injury to his left arm and shoulder. There was no immediate word on how long he might be out of action.
Scotland opened its tour with a 24-6 win over the United States a week earlier in Houston. The Scots have Test matches against Argentina and South Africa next.
