David Moffett may force emergency general meeting of Welsh Rugby Union

DAVID Moffett is on course to force an emergency general meeting of the Welsh Rugby Union after attracting the support of 20 clubs since his manifesto launch last Friday.

He needs 32 of the union’s 320 clubs to back his call for a structural shake-up of the game in Wales.

He is sending out a copy of his blueprint for Welsh rugby to every club and hopes for increased backing once they have had a chance to digest it.

“It would be nice if we could send a powerful message to the union’s current management,” said Moffett.

“People are constantly telling me about how disillusioned they are with the state of the game in Wales, how they are sick of the way the union is run. I am saying this is a chance for them to change things for the better.”

Moffett insists he is willing to work hard to persuade enough clubs to back him so that he would have a serious chance of realising his vision.
