Canada"s women"s rugby team beats England 27-13 in IRB Nations Cup final

DENVER – Canada’s women’s rugby team beat England for just the second time in 20 years Saturday to claim its first IRB Nations Cup title with a 27-13 victory.

Up 14-8 at halftime, Canada began to build possession that resulted in a pair of penalty kicks by Magali Harvey to extend the lead to 20-8.

England then looked to apply its power game and fly half Ceri Large drove a penalty kick deep into the Canadian corner. The resulting England drive resulted in a Georgina Roberts try to bring England within seven points.

Off another attempted England corner kick, Canada collected possession and drove towards half.

The ball found Bianca Farella on the near wing and she rounded her English opposite number and out ran the remaining cover to score under the posts for the clinching points.
