A gang of golfers, which included Wales’ most capped forward and former British Lion Martyn Williams, tackled the notorious Welsh National Golf Course, as part of a charity day to raise funds for TÅ· Hafan.
The forward, capped 100 times by Wales, was among dozens of golfers who took on the energy-sapping, 7,433 yard course, as part of fundraiser held by the community regeneration specialist Keepmoat.
A total of 22 teams took part in the Keepmoat charity golf day on Tuesday, July 9th, including Mr Williams, in a bid to raise £3,000. The event raised £6,467 for the TÅ· Hafan hospice which cares for children with life limiting illnesses in Wales, more than double the target the event aimed to raise.
The TÅ· Hafan hospice, which is located in Sully, South Glamorgan between Cardiff and Barry needs to raise £3 million a year to provide care and support to life-limited families in Wales.
Keepmoat held the event, as the firm is currently working within close proximity to the charity where they are currently delivering Welsh Housing Quality Standards (WHQS) works.
Alison Stallard, Business and Community Fundraiser at TÅ· Hafan said: “We are incredibly grateful to Keepmoat for arranging this fantastic fundraising event for TÅ· Hafan. It costs more than £3 million each year to provide our services free of charge to families across Wales and we could not continue providing this support without the help from local businesses and the general public.“
Keepmoat’s  Regional Managing Director, Martin Smithurst, said: “Having worked in Glamorgan for two years now we wanted to hold this fundraiser for TÅ· Hafan to give something back to the local community.
“The business is undertaking more and more projects in Wales and it’s important that as well as being committed to employing local people on our projects, we give something back to charities like TÅ· Hafan, which contribute so much to the area.“
