Jubilant crowds gathered to welcome the squad before they went their separate ways after winning their first series in 16 years. There was a huge cheer when captain Sam Warburton trophy on top of his baggage trolley at Heathrow. âIt is a lot cleaner than on Saturday night, thatâs for sure,â he said. âThere were a few bottles of champagne in the trophy.
âIt is a great feeling to come back with a trophy. It has only been done nine times in 125 years, so all the players know they are part of a very prestigious group and are very proud of that. Maybe in a few monthsâ time or a few yearsâ time I might watch a DVD and realise what we achieved.â
Stand-off Jonathan Sexton, who signed autographs in Dublin with the Irish Lions, believes the squad can go on to deliver more success in New Zealand in four yearsâ time. âItâs a pretty young squad,â said Sexton, who scored the second try in the decisive third-Test victory in Sydney.
