The Ballarat back lines were valiant under fire at St Patrick’s College in the Victorian Rugby Union second division B-grade clash, which ladder leader Melton won, 37-7.

Ballarat outside-centre Regan Ward made an early try in a tight first half.

Open side flanker Dylan Chandler managed to steal a few line-outs in the second-half and was instrumental in retaining possession in the kick-offs to keep Melton on the back foot.

Melton’s forwards eventually found a way to control the game and get the team over the line.
