Doncaster Phoenix have made their second major signing of the close season, snapping up a second former Doncaster Knights star in the shape of Dan Smith.
The 28-year-old lists Bath, Rotherham Titans and the Knights among his former clubs and joins ex-Knight Chris Planchant in Phoenixâs squad for next seasonâs Yorkshire One campaign.
Versatile Smith can occupy the back or second row. He also played on the wing for Doncaster last season.
âI had a few niggling injuries last season, but Iâm aiming just to get my head down when we start pre-season training,â said Smith.
âIâd like to thank the Knights for the support they gave me, but Iâm now looking forward to getting on the pitch wherever Phoenix need me.
âThe club built a great platform with promotion last year and letâs just hope we can kick on from there.â
Armthorpe-based Smith enjoyed two separate spells with the Knights over the past five years and also works for Bawtry company âThe Oval Partnershipâ as a recruitment consultant alongside Phoenix club member and sponsor Richard Lammie.
âIâm hoping to strike the right balance between work and rugby with Phoenix and help the club play at the highest level possible.â said Smith.
