Ben Foden touched down twice and there were tries for captain Tom Wood and replacement prop Paul Doran-Jones as England recovered from a poor start Stuart Lancaster rung the changes for the non-capped international, 13 in all from the side who thumped the Barbarians at Twickenham.
Seven players were starting their first senior game and plenty of others had points to prove after long spells out of the side, such as Foden and Courtney Lawes.
England conceded a penalty try after 17 minutes and had Jonny May sent to the sin-bin for a deliberate knock-on as the Consur XV looked to profit from an errorstrewn opening from Lancasterâs men.
But that setback jolted England into action and they hit back immediately with a try from Foden and Vunipola then powered over for a quickfire hat-trick.
Wood scored another on half-time as the Consur XV, comprising players from Argentina, Uruguay, Chile and Brazil, started to tire.
With Stephen Myler landing three of his five conversion attempts, England rattled up 31 points in 21 minutes, but for the first quarter of the match their game was full of mistakes.
They would have been 6-0 down inside nine minutes had the Consur flyhalf Benjamin Madero not missed two simple penalty shots at goal.
The first of those kicks was inside the first minute after England scrambled to defend a Consur counter-attack and conceded a penalty at the breakdown.
Vunipola failed to control the ball at the base of the first scrum, as England marched forward through the splintered South Americans, and he knocked on with his first carry of the game.
Englandâs frustrations intensified when tighthead prop Henry Thomas was penalised at successive scrums, but the Consur could not capitalise, with Madero hooking his kick horribly wide.
The South Americans attacked with confidence, helped by May rushing out of the line, and the Gloucester wing had to recover sharply to tackle full-back Tomas Carrio into touch.
It had been a sloppy opening and England finally paid the price after 17 minutes when Consur were awarded a penalty try and May sin-binned for a deliberate knock-on.
It"s hats off to England"s new boy Billy Vunipola
