Billy Vunipola plans to fix breakdown

Despite running in seven tries, England were made to sweat by a semi-professional side in Montevideo at the breakdown – an area in which the Pumas are specialists at creating mayhem.

Vunipola, 20, believes England will be punished if they are not on top of their game at the tackle area. He said: “We started off a bit slow and tapered off at the end. As a team, we need to go back to the drawing board and try to work on the fundamentals – the ruck and the tackle area – because Argentina will come at us hard there.

“I did OK but nothing exceptional. I was lucky to get on the end of two good driving mauls and Jonny May’s good pass.”

LEICESTER director of rugby Richard Cockerill faces a ban after being charged with verbally abusing fourth official Stuart Terheege during the Premiership final.

He confronted Terheege after Toby Flood was knocked out by a heavy tackle.
