Ireland have added Simon Easterby to their coaching staff and Joe Schmidt is already excited about what the former British and Irish Lion can bring to the table.
Easterby, capped 65 times by Ireland between 2000 and 2008, leaves his role as Scarlets head coach to join up with Schmidt.
This yearâs RBS 6 Nations champions, Ireland have autumn internationals against South Africa, Georgia and Australia to prepare for.
And the addition of Easterby as forwards coach is just what the side needed with a World Cup less than 18 months away according to Schmidt.
âSimon has tremendous Test match experience combined with an in-depth knowledge of the current national squad players,â he said.
âHe is well known to Irish rugby supporters and to many of the players and his knowledge and experience will help drive the team forward.â
Easterby added: âItâs an exciting time to be involved in Irish rugby and I am looking forward to helping the team continue to be as competitive as possible.â
