Exeter Centurions confirmed their status as serious contenders in the South West Division with a 30-18 win at North Devon Raiders.

Ed Powell opened the scoring for Centurions in the first five minutes, joining the attack on the left flank to touch down after Alex Stevens’ kick through. Minutes later, Powell was in again to add a second try.

Mike Sumner managed to grab a score back for the home team but Exeter restored their advantage within minutes, with Alex Mills-Baker cutting an inside to score. Stevens added the conversion and added a try from close range to give the Centurions a 20-4 advantage at half-time.

Gethin Jones’ barrelling run saw him add a further try for Exeter with 20 minutes remaining.

A late score was then added when Stevens, who had switched to loose forward, picked up the ball and broke clear of the Plymouth defence to race in from 75 metres out.
