“Saints fans can handle us losing but it is the manner in which you lose that matters and we have lost some games in a way the fans don’t deserve.”
Hooker James Roby admits harsh words have been said in the dressing room in the wake of the defeat that stopped them going top of Super League.
He said: “We have had a bit of honesty and talked about getting back to the heights we hit earlier in the season.
“Wello vented his anger and frustration after the Warrington game and said it was embarrassing and it was, I agree with him.
“But it’s not doom and gloom after one defeat. We know we’ve dropped below our normal standards but there’s a long way to go.
“Hopefully if we put our foot down, nobody will remember this further in the year when we start winning well again.”
WIDNES prop Steve Pickersgill, 28, has been forced to retire because of neck and knee injuries.
