THE rugby season might be over but there was one match still remaining today.

Gloucester Rugby season ticket holders Tracey Middlemore and Gary Maisey from Kingsway are set for their dream wedding at Kingsholm after years of heartache this afternoon.

Tracey met Gary, who is originally from Swindon, at the first match of the 2007 season in the old Clubhouse Bar.

Tracey had just recovered from a serious illness while Gary was still grieving for his wife, who had died the year before.

But it seemed love blossomed after the couple met up again at a number of games at the home of Gloucester Rugby.

Gary, who works for Molson brewery company, said: “Eventually a friendship developed and subsequently a relationship ensued.

“We fell in love and would see each other at every opportunity.

“My only son passed away in 2010 and Tracey helped me through this tragic period.

“I decided to move out of myhome and move in with Tracey and her two daughters in Kingsway.”

He added: “Obviously the only possible venue for such an occasion as our wedding was Kingsholm, where it all began for us.

“Our family and friends are celebrating this final match of the 2013/14 season, albeit a ‘love match’ today.”

More than 200 guests will join Tracey and Gary when they say their vows overlooking the pitch and then for their reception, also to be held at the stadium.

Tracey is planning to walk down the aisle with three bridesmaids.

They are her daughters Lilly, 18, Maisey, 14, and niece Tilly, who is just 10 months old. Meanwhile, nephews Ben, 15, and Martin, 17, are ushers for Gary.

Tracey said: “Gary doesn’t have a clue what I will be wearing.

“It will be a nice surprise for him. I have always been a Gloucester girl and a rugby fan.”

S

he added: “Gary lost his wife and he wanted to try something new and he attended his first rugby game in 2007. We met each other here and became really good friends.

“I was not looking for a relationship but I met Gary and, over time, I became attracted to him.

“We were not sure if Gloucester would still have some games or not when we booked the stadium so it was a bit of a risk.

“Unfortunately, they lost butfor us we got to have our wedding, otherwise there might have been a wedding alongside a rugby game.”

Gary and Tracey are both looking forward to their honeymoon in Somerset.

Tracey said: “We are having a small honeymoon in our caravan but, in July, we will be going on a cruise around the Mediterranean, which we are really looking forward to.”
