THE rugby union season maybe coming to an end, but rugby league in the city is just about to begin.
Plymouth Titans have started their preparations for their 2014 South West Premier League campaign, which begins on May 10 at Exeter.
Before then the club will play in the South West Nines Festival.
The club are training every Wednesday at Stonehouse Creek and they are hoping for a successful season.
Last year the club struggled with inconsistency due to a small squad, which head coach Dec Sexton is hoping to rectify.
He said: “We had some great performances last summer and have a decent bunch of lads in the squad already.
“A number of our players went on to represent Devon last season and these are the foundations we hope to build on.
“With more numbers we can ensure we turn up to every fixture with the strongest possibility of fielding a game winning side.
He added: “Lots of the players that come to us have little to no league experience.
“But often they carry over union skills and develop into great league players while maintaining their fitness during their off season.
“Everyone is welcome, whatever their level of experience so I’d urge anyone interested to come down to training on Wednesday nights.”
As well as new players, the Titans are also looking for volunteers.
Anyone interested should meet at The Rectory, home of Devonport Services RFC, on a Wednesday at 6.45pm or ring 07717 510018.
