IT has been quite a while since Cheshunt Rugby Club players represented England, and now two have come along at once.

Having attended trials in February, Alex Brown and Louis Mulholland, who joined Cheshunt in the U-8s, played for England U-18 Clubs and Schools at the weekend in a convincing 38-17 win over Bedford Academy U-19 at Loughborough.

Both Cheshunt players started and put in very solid performances against a competitive Blues side.

Brown has now been selected for the squad for forthcoming internationals against Ireland Clubs and France A in a triangular tournament on April 16 and 20.

It’s been a remarkable year for Cheshunt’s younger players.

Brown and Mulholland, alongside Karl Garside and James Lennon, also play for the Saracen’s academy, which is for elite players selected from the best of Herts, Essex and Kent.

All four boys have represented Hertfordshire this season.

Other club players representing the county, in the U-23s, have been Marvin Brown, Reece Shoobridge, Ross Chamberlain, Aydan Duligall and Tom Claridge and in the U-18s, Tom Cooper, Michael Henderson and Scott Glynn – who has also represented Herts U-20s.
