âAny other ending of this sentence encourages rape culture which is, in my
opinion, the nasty side of lad culture.â
The president of the rugby club has since apologised for the game, she said.
Samuel Cuthbert, 21, is said to have written in an email to Miss Perry: ââItâs
not rape ifâ¦â is neither funny, nor is it permissible, and it is for this
reason that I wholeheartedly apologise.â
He also offered to assist the DUFemSoc in its âcauseâ, saying: âI would very
much like to initiate a relationship between our two societies, not only to
demonstrate our belief in the importance of the work you do but to help you
do it, too.â
Mr Cuthbert, from Leicester, declined to comment last night.
Professor Elizabeth Archibald, Principal of St Cuthbertâs Society, said: âWe
are aware of the alleged incident in t Cuthbertâs and we will be speaking to
the students concerned.
âThe college has a diverse and international student body and students are
well aware of the need to act appropriately and respectfully towards others.â
Last November the same rugby club was banned from playing for the rest of the
term after members dressed up as Jimmy Savile, his victims and police for a
âbad taste fancy dress night.â
The university said at the time it was taking disciplinary action.
