Wigan 12 - Huddersfield 30: Danny Brough works his magic trick

Victory over second-placed Wigan left the Giants three points clear at the Super League summit with just three rounds remaining.

The League Leaders’ Shield is now theirs to lose as they bid to reach Old Trafford in coach Paul Anderson’s first full season in charge.

The scores were level at 12-12 at the break but Huddersfield were utterly dominant thereafter as they secured a famous win.

Wigan opened the scoring in the third minute when Josh Charnley, above, fielded Blake Green’s high kick into the path of onrushing scrum-half Sam Powell, who touched down with ease.

Pat Richards added the extras but Huddersfield steadied themselves and their huge pack began to lay a platform for playmaker Danny Brough to take charge.

Huddersfield prop Eorl Crabtree, one of the biggest players in Super League at 6ft 5in and 18st, began to punch some sizeable holes up front.
